hello i'm new here,
1) My 2004 Ram 1500 Hemi, had MIL came on 1st, code pulled and EGR was replaced. That solved the MIL issue.
2) next day the ETC light came on solid, PPS & MAP Sensor replaced.
3) next the ETC light was blinking, other parts replaced-and the Throttle Body was replaced.
4) seemed to be good until driving approx 30 miles, ETC light blinking again. Then a wiring harness was found to have a short. It was "repaired" then taken to Dodge dealer to reset on computer.
5) This time it was driven approx 70-100 miles with no problems. That was on Tuesday Nov 02. Today Wed, after driving 15 miles, I felt a "slight" loss of power, then ETC light came on "blinking" again. Turned off engine and restarted. ETC light was "off". Drove home after work approx 20 miles, no ETC lights. No problems.
***WHAT is the next step? This is a "recurring" problem for several others. I love my truck and don't want to get rid of it.
Can't Dodge and any others come up with a sure fix???
Sorry so winded, but getting frustrated.
thanks in advance...!!!

What p-codes are you getting now? Are you running a stock tune? When it's running does it run smooth? Is the idle speed the same? A vacumme leak could be the problem.

Thumbs up

thanks for reply Cammin Hemi,
P code today was 2138
Had it checked at a friends shop. He mentioned Throttle Control(?) and dealer Re-Flash.
The other shop before said had replaced the Throttle Body and the next day was when the ETC light started "blinking again. Then they found the short in wiring harness and said they repaired it. Then was going to take to a Dodge dealer for the re-flash or re-set (whatever it's called). Waiting to get list of what all was done over a 5-6 day period. I will post list when i get it for more reference.
All stock no add ons yet. It runs smoothly as normal and idle is normal. The last 2 days after the last ETC light "blinked", driving approx 50-60 miles, "no ETC light ups or blinks". All normal performance.
I forgot to mention last nite that my truck has 177k plus miles. And runs surprisingly smooth and powerful.
I will ask about vac leak, but running smoothly for now, so not acting like a vac leak.
Thanks again, any info will be helpful!!!

Code p2138 is for throttle pedal position. The flash at a dealer will relearn your new throttle body as far as pedal position at wot, idle and everything in between.

Nothing wrong with a splice as a repair if it's done correctly. Factory harnesses have a lot of splices in them to begin with.
