Default Again.. No manual trans??? How come??

Newbie here... I have used forums similar to this one for years... I have owned Rams since 1992.
I have an 04 Ram 3500 QC Dulley 4X4 With the H.O Cummins and a 6 spd manual..
I am thinking about a new Ram... WHY IS THERE NO MANUAL TRANSMISSION FOR GAS ENGINES????? Anyone know? I prefer a manual trans. I am keeping my diesel but I want a new one. I also checked all other manufacturers None of them offer it either. Only Dodge offers a 6 spd with the Diesel. Have Americans really become that lazy? I have had 12 Rams since 1992 and only 3 had automatics. I HATED them with the auto.
Anyone???

I don't get it either. I would have loved a 6 speed.

Welcome to the Z. I'm guessing they stopped offering/building/buying the stick shift transmissions because people weren't buying them.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

When you get your Ram, we LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

It's a good possibility , breakage issues . It's much harder to damage a automatic then a manual .

you can't buy a 1500 with a stick shift
i believe that if you buy a 2500 or 3500 you can
only the 1500 has MDS
1500 don't have the diesel engine YET

It might have something to do with emissions.. Hmmmm... I never thought of that. With the more strict regulations being put on all auto manufacturers. Maybe is easier to regulate them with the auto trans. According to Dodge's website you can only get the 6 spd manual with the diesel. Ford and Chevy don't even offer a manual trans in any truck, Even a diesel.

My 2008 4.7 1500 has a 6 speed stick shift. One of the reasons I chose the 4.7 over the Hemi. I wasn't aware that the new ones did not even have that option at all unless they were diesel. Most people prefer the automatic I guess. And MDS on a standard would be really tough to do I suppose. More and more driving is being taken away from the driver and I think it's a shame. If you can find one like mine, the 4.7 with some upgrades and a stick shift and no MDS or other stuff that stops it from realising its true potential, you have quite the truck. No hemi badge on mine, but let me tell ya, I usually take hemis off the line and am gone before they even start to wind up because their engines are too busy making sure the tires won't chirp and the real power doesn't come until 3rd gear. By then I am gone and not worried about if they're passing me after that.

Pretty unlikely that emissions have anything to do with it. They're cracking down harder on diesels now than gas engines.
