Our trucks have rev limiters...lol

I had my truck in first and didn't realize it...and got on it out into traffic and the motor revved great, and then, I'm like, hmm, its not shifting...

cough.cough.cough.cough...

(looks down as the tach bounces off about 5800RPMs)

(looks at shifter location indicator)

(quickly lets of the gas, shifts to drive, and continues down the road).

So...watch out for that...lol

Motors fine...scared the crap out of me, thought it blew up or the transmission let loose...lol

haha...maybe 10 years ago. Now it just saved me from doing my own repairs

I believe the new ones automatically up shift when they reach a certain rpm whether you want them to or not...which is kinda odd.

Yeah the new ones do that. I've taken it up there, only to 5400 though, that's what my limiter is set at. When it is just in D, however, it usually shifts 200 shy of 5000. Makes me want a new cam to be able to handle the higher RPMs, cause damn, the 5.9 sounds awesome at those higher rpms.
