This must be because of the cable loosing it's integrity over the years...I checked my 05 and it's real tight. Checked the 93 and 94 and sure enough there was a ton of loose in there. I didn't clamp them, I just got new ones and they are now perfect. I would have never thought in a million years that this cable would work hard enough to expand.....

I had a '69 gto that I found the gas peddle lever had distorted
Over the years and no longer had the correct bend. Could the
Bend in the peddle lever/arm be getting straight and this is what
Is causing the loose throttle cable?

Makes sense, before i did the mod on mine i would jam the pedal to the floor pretty hard to get any power, so if it came from the factory (back in 95) with space between the pedal and floor i could see it bending slightly.

maybe im just having a 4a.m. brain fart or something, but what is a cable clamp? i tried to do this by crimping fishing wieghts around the cable...but the weights fell off, so i gave up. also, wouldnt the zip tie slip when you ram the peal to thed floor?
