Yep they sure come of easy, finishing up a job had a young lad load the truck up with rubbish for the dump with the tail gate down . My wife took the truck to the dump came back with the tailgate down, I could not close it, could not work out why. Drove home with it down. Next day in the light of day I realized that the gate was wedged between the bumper and the gate support had to get a bar to release it . Fortunately no dents but scratches that need a respray. God knows how it got into that position because I certainly don't

Went to close mine a few times and a little of the ladder, etc was sticking out and as I closed it it popped it off. I watch it now hehe

Try a miniature worm gear hose clamp around the right side hinge socket. Locate it to clear the body when closing.

Dont feel bad, my son was mad at me one day and slammed the tail gate and it fell off. I just stood there and said RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!!!!!!

I have pulled mine off twice when opening. I figured it was the upward hard pull when opening it. Only seemed to happen when I was trying to open it with one hand and holding a heavy object with the other and in a straining rush to open it. I think it was the upward direction and the hard jaring yank I put on the handle. I now take care in the way I open it and haven't had a problem since.
