Wow, Im surprised an intake with runners that long didn't knock your TQ down..... Usually you see top end HP and loose TQ.......

Im glad its working out though, I love reading this thread

Actually its the opposite. Longer intake runners normally enhance low end torque and the shorter intake runners tend to enhance top end HP.

The unique thing about our Sullivan Intake set up is that the intake actually has more volume then the 4" runners in our heads. So our adapter plates taper DOWN which increases velocity... So the last 4" of our intake runners are not changed. This actually helps flow. This same intake on the 4.6L KILLED there low end torque because their intake runner volume (in the head) was higher... this means lower air speed and slow air kills torque. In our 4.7L we do NOT have this dead spot because the runners in our heads have less volume... meaning they INCREASE velocity. So we can get more air past a smaller intake valve.

So we have done two things by adding the Sullivan intake to our 4.7L engine. We increased the runner length of the Sullivan intake by 2.5" with our adapter plates. At the same time our 2.5" plates act as a velocity stack. The runner lengths are approximately 14" long from the floor of the intake to the back side of the intake valve... Mind you its practically a direct shot down straight down. So we have a decent length runner which in theory should give both good top end HP and produce decent low end torque. Then our Intake Adapter plates taper down from the larger Sullivan intake runner volume to the smaller 4.7L intake runner volume. The transition at that point increases velocity in the intake runner as it enters the head and just prior to the intake valve. In a since, we have added a velocity stack 4" above the intake valve. We have the best of both worlds, and I honestly feel we have the perfect intake combination for producing great low & top end power.

This intake will prove to be a killer combination for anyone looking to build the best possible 4.7L engine. Its cheaper then an all out custom fabricated intake which tend to be all top end power & it will out perform them everywhere in the RPM range.

This intake does require custom SCT tuning. It has moves more air up top then your PCM can possibly adjust to. It will cause SUPER LEAN conditions on stock tunes at WOT. This is a testament to its ability to do exactly what its advertised to do... MOVE AIR and allot of it!

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

I'm not sure, but the last time I talked with him his top end was

Race ported heads
H.o cams/comp springs
Airram adapters/Sullivan intake
F&B 72mm throttle body

Hes running Ross pistons and 10.5.1 cr I believe.

I sent him a link to this post, maybe he'll post up.

There has been a few built 4.7l on different forums. Mostly on Dakotas and jeep grand Cherokees. As far as all the R&D I'm not sure. I'm also wanting a B/A motor.

Its pricey, but I know ill enjoy it. Lol

Default Nice!

Hey Nick, Matt here I'm new to this site but have been on airram.com a million times drooling at all the available 4.7L parts you guys have there. What cam do you think would go well with the Sullivan Manifold and race heads with 72mm TB? I also want to put one of the underdrive pulleys on, what size do you think is good, the 6" or 7"??
