Default valve covers?

I would like to make my engine bay alittle nicer to look at. I want a set of chrome or polished valve covers and im just goin to put a filter on the valve cover for the crank case. Where can i get some besides mopar? Does this 318 have the same valve cover bolt patern as the old ones. I dont mind taping the valve cover with a uni bit for the egr valve. Do i have to have year specific valve covers or just ones for a 318?

All the valve covers for the 318s are the same, as long as its new enough to be a magnum (1992 and up)....and if you want to find some nice chrome ones, id check edelbrock

why would magnum make a difference? Different valve cover bolt pattern? Older ones not tall enough for the rockers?

I'm pretty sure they're all the same. BTW, that's the PCV system, not the EGR that goes into the valve cover.

Im not 100% sure if the magnum has different valve covers, but the motor underwent some pretty big changes when they turned it into a magnum....i just know for a fact that 1992 and up are all the same

Early "LA" engines have a few less valve cover bolts than the magnum motors do, and if you install a set of early covers on a magnum, you'll soon find out why they were changed, because they'll leak. It's not a matter of if, but when.
While no one makes a set of chrome covers for a magnum, a GOOD chromer could do them for. A decent chrome job will still cost you around 100 bucks but that's still a bit less than the cheapest polished aluminum covers

I'm trying to visualise that and without the stamped in indents to clear the bolt heads I don't believe that would work. IMO it would look pretty hokey. Or very obvious.

Wth, try it anyway and if you ruin the valve covers, you'll learn a valuble lesson. If it works, we'll learn something.

Nope. Still won't work. The LA's used 3 bolts on both side of the valve covers (6) while the Magnum uses 5 bolts on each side (10).
