I had a Jeep TJ with a 3.73 danna 44, howled since the day I bought it, 45,000 kms, until I traded it in shortly after blowing out the rear end for towing too heavy of a trailer for 8 hours through the sand (80,000Kms).

I got my Ram at 216 kms, now it's got just over 8,000 kms, and has howled since the day I bought it too.

my ram r/t has did this since day 1 has the 4.10 gears, dealer blamed it on the new intake design and told me they hear it in all of them. I got a exhaust on now and i dont hear it any more even when cruising and my exhaust is quite, but its gone as far as i know.

i have a 2010 TRX4 and at 2k miles i would get a howl from 40 to 55 when im on the gas when i let off it goes away. I took it in for it they rebuilt the rear end and it went away. Then after another 1k it came back i took it in and they rebuilt the rearend again. I got in the truck and drove home and it was still there took it in the next day. The dealer now says its normal noise and they will not do anything since a brand new one had the same noise. They said if it gets worse or fails they will warranty it. So now I have had a truck for 7k miles that howls from 40 to 55 mph but no worries its normal. What BS!

Default rear end howl

Had the same howling noise in my 2010 ram. The dealer changed the whole innards of the rear axle. Everything was new except the housing. I have no howling now. They said it was bad bearings.

I have just over 15000km on my 2010 sport 4x4 and since the temps have dropped into the negatives I have started to hear a low howl at lower speeds, everything was quit until winter hit.

My 3.92 starts howling around 40mph. I can really hear it good at 50mph with the radio off. Been like tat since day 1. The 3.55 truck I test drove before buying mine did not have this issue. Will switching to Amsoil in the differential cure this or a dealer visit ?

Truck is at dealer is at the dealer for its third rebuild since new only 7700k miles. It was deemed normal by the last dealer, and it was getting louder so I took it back in. They are rebuilding the rearend again. My symptoms are the same that I have seen others mention. Howling starts at 40mph and gets louder as speed increases the loudest being at 50 mph then it starts to go down at higher speeds. This is only when you give it gas once you let off it doesnt do it anymore. So I hope this is finally fixed I guess I find out tomorrow. If not I will have no choice but to start the lemon law on it.
