I'm not sure about the watered down version that is in the glove box but the complete owners manual that you can download from the Dodge site has the directions on how to unlock it. Like Steve said it starts on pg 301.

on the colum shifter there's a small hole on the colum just below the shifter if you insert a small screw driver in it and push lightly it will release the shifter and you can get it out of park if it happens again

Ok, got the truck back today. They are mailing me my service order and I will post what was replaced. They only told me that an electrical part was replaced in the steering column, DUH!

They gave me a Dodge Caliber for the free 2 day rental (geeeeesh, I would never buy one of those), but the gas savings was nice.

They also did the first scheduled maintenance on the truck (N/C).

Please post the name and part# for the repair. The only mechanic that works on my trucks will be back to work after the new year and I'm dropping my wifes truck off at that time. He told me even if he cant duplicate the problem but had the part# to what I thought or have heard of being the problem he would replace it. Thanks for any help

Ok, the truck is all fixed and so far, no more repeat instances of the unpredictable no shifting out of park problem.

This is what the dealer stated in the work order:
Customer states shifter gets stuck in park.

Notes from Tech: 4005 Shifter not moving; Test several times intermittently solenoid jams up, stays in lock mode. Check solenoid retest. SOP solenoid control shift interlock -Remove & replace shifter lock plate with interlock solenoid pkgb. Remove steering column & lower kick panel and wiring

Cause: Shifter not moving
Solenoid/Bracket, BTSI (Brake Transmission Shift Interlock)

(1) Part #: 5057506AC Bracket-Gearshift N/C

Hope this can help if you're having dealer issues.
