Default 95 2500 Cummins towing cap.?

4x2, auto tranny (with aux. cooling), 3.54 rear end; having a heck of a time finding CGVW or max towing cap. I want to pull a 5th wheel, and am willing to put in an exhaust brake. Just need to know how heavy I can go.

Thanks

Default Not on door

The only thing listed on the door pillar is MGVW, 8800 lbs. I know that one 'rule of thumb' is to tow no more than the GVR, but does that assume 'no trailer brakes'?
I also noticed the pillar placard says to fill the front tires to 50psi, vs 80 for the back. My tires are all rated to 80psi; will filling them all to 80psi cause any problems?
I'll check inside the glovebox for any towing info there; thanks.

I've noted that towing capacities are higher for a 5vr vs. a tow behind too.

I'd keep the fronts under 80 psi and 50 is a good start. Once you get the trailer on the truck you can experiment a bit.

GVWR does not assume whether brakes are present or not. It is simply a measurement of how much the truck can haul, loaded. Basically the weight of the empty truck, add fuel, add passengers, add cargo, etc...

Here's a great site with some really friendly folks that can probably shed a bit more light on your truck and towing:

I understand what the GVWR is: it is what the truck is allowed to weigh itself. What I cannot find is the CGVWR - max truck plus trailer rating - although I'll look in the glovebox. It may well be GVWRx2, or 17600.

Sounds about right. I towed a 5vr with a GM diesel and tried to stay under 14K
