Default Are the rear seat headrests removable?

I want to remove the rear seat center headrest to accomodate a child car seat. But, it seems to be stuck. Is it supposed to be removable?
Thanks.

My truck is a 2009 1500 crew cab laramie

Yes, the center headrest is removable. There are 2 tabs under the headrest, squeeze in and lift the headrest off.

Thanks for confirming it does come out. I have been doing what you just said with no luck. It seems to be jammed for some reason.

There are tabs on both posts so you may have to play with it a little but they will come out. They will also fit in the in floor bins for storage.

I finally got it out. The side ones came out nice and easy, but the center was quite a pain. For some reason, it was very, very tight. I just kept working on it and finally got it. Rediculous...

I remember trying to get mine out and they would not budge. I just thought they were not designed for removal. I'll have to try harder and see if I can get them to come out.

The rear head rest will also work to replace the larger front ones.
I drive with the back of the seat well forward, not laying down. The stock front rest tilted my head down. With the rears up front, I sit up straight, head up and the rest is about 1" behind my head ready if needed. (I hope not to need it!)
