What holds the right front half shaft on the front axle? 03 4x4 offroad package with the 4.7L

it should just slide into the diff or its bolted and the hub has a single nut on it easy to change with the right tools

The half shaft that was on there "slid" down from the diff and was starting to eat up the splines.I could almost slide it off the splines on the diff. while it was on the truck. I bought a new half shaft and it is the same length as the old one. Right now my 4x4 is a 4x2 since I have not put the new half shaft on there.

i have the same issue on my 02 but its drivers side, I got the new shaft in but i think th esnap ring that holds it in is shoot. I can get it onpast the snap ring but then a short drive and it off again. Anyone know If you can a new snap ring at a parts store? al the stealerships are closed this weekend.

I got my axel shafts for the front end of my truck at NAPA auto parts so I assume that you can get the snap rings at auto part stores too.
