Default mods question/opinion

Hi Gang,

I am debating the style and colour of deflectors hood and windows to install on my Black Laramie.

I am looking at the AVS Aerothin style for hood.

Not sure between chrome or standard smoke.

I think the chrome may be overkill on the nice chrome grill on the Laramie.

As for window deflectors, think I will go with smoke no chrome.

Style??? Should I go with the 2 way tape install or tapeless?

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Musky

Smoke on both. In channel window vents. Never had a hood deflector, don't like them.
You can have them painted to match. If you do paint them, remove the B pillar covers.

I have the chrome bug shield but would prefer color matching so it'll likely get replaced. The one you mentioned, does that just go over the hood or does it extend over the top of the lights like a mustache? Either way, go to Home Deport or that kind of place and get some foam weather strip to attach to either the hood or deflector before installing the deflector. If you don't, it will wear on your paint just from driving down the hiway due to wind pressure/deflection.

As for the vent shades, definitely go with the "tapeless" or what's know as "in-channel". Painting them body color would look great too. Especially if they are done professionally with body color and clear coat.

Smoked or black. Those are a couple of items that just dont look right in chrome, and I love chrome. IMHO.

I (what is it now, fifth?) the smoked. And in channel vents as well, the stick on ones just seem too bulky and I'd always be worried about them flying off on the highway in some of our crazy wind we get out here.

Hi Guiys,

Thanks for the input.

Not sure about painting though. My paint colour (sorry don't have the code) is black green pearl I think....

My nephews got me the chrome hood visor for xmas but I will have to return it...too much chrome for me.

The guy at Overdrive in Whitby, ON recomended to stay away from the in-channell visors but I forget why.

Anyone think of negatives to the in-channels?

Thanks Tom

i dont like any of those deflectors. had em on my '01 when i bought it. hood deflector definitely did its job. snow would fly over my windshield most of the time. the rain guards i disliked. bit of a blind spot and to me didnt do much. could not ride with window open in rain. plus to me, i do not like to add plastic to a truck or car. my 2c
