Default Truck making odd sound when turned off..

This morning I went to go hunting. Got out of my truck and got ready. I then walked beside my passenger side and heard thumping. To me it sounded like a heart beat you know the way it thumps. I put my ear into the front wheel well and it was indeed my trucks engine making this sound. I figured maybe its just hot and the coolent is boiling.. So I went hunting came back 5 hours later and it was stilling making the thumping sound. Got home and went out about an hour later and it was STILL making this sound.. Just went back out a few minutes ago and it has stopped.

Any idea what this is? I popped my hood and it sounded as if it was coming from the fuse box(If thats what its called.. furthest back on the passenger side under the hood.)

Hope to take it to the dealer this week.

Did a cat crawl into the fan cowling to keep warm?
Odd that it sounds like it's coming from the fuse box...

I'd say it was probably the last signs of life of some animal you ran over. With these big trucks it's hard to see so no one could blame you.

Just kidding! Never heard of such a thing, unless it's some emissions recirculating crap.

You have to end the ex-wife before you shove her under the rear seat storage compartment. Sounds like the gag you installed worked fine though. Just gotta keep her from moving around next time.

lol on a serious note it sounds like your recirculating vent is binding up on something or the solinoid is bad
after you shut the truck down it opens to allow air to flow into the cab

also the "fuse box" you are refering too is actually the computer but the resirculating vent is right behind the firewall on the other side of that

you can check it by opening your glovebox and removing it (refer to changing your in cabin air filter in the owners manual for detailed instructions)
just above the air filter is an accordain looking vent turn the ign. to ON and hit the button to circulate air from the cabin and watch that vent it should fold down so you cant see the opening any more. turn off the cabin circulation and it should fold all the way up. and when you shut the ign. off it should be about halfway between the two positions

if im right it should not move one way or the other and you will have to take it to the dealer to fix it but atleast they wont spend three hours looking for the problem

if im wrong there are a few other things it might be but more than likely its in the vent system or your computer is shorting out lol

Okay, something like a heartbeat is strange for sure. If it happens again try and capture it so you can post. Might be easier to make an educated guess if we could hear what it sounded like.
