Default 95 RAM 2500 clicking noise in trans

Well, I've noticed lately when the truck is in drive there is a metal tapping/clicking noise coming from the trans. It drives and shifts fine. when I put it in reverse the noise goes away. Dropped the pan and found a small metal rod about an inch long in the pan. Any ideas where it came from?

Thanks

Probably came from the valve body.
