Default stalling?, erratic fuel gauge, and tranny slips?

107,000-ish miles. while driving at highway speeds the truck seems to jump out of gear and slams back in. but even while accelerating when the tranny "slips" the rpm doesn't change. i would assume if it actually slipped out of gear while giving it gas the engine would rev as if i was in neutral. while this is happening the fuel gauge goes to zero and back then back to zero and so forth until the problem stops. today the check engine light also flashed, dinged, then when off again. sometimes the engine will completely shutoff. usually it will start right back up, but on occasion it will have trouble starting and seems to need to be revved while starting to keep it running. a few time while leaving my home and work parking lots the engine will die before making it to the road, but starts back up no problem. when this happens the engine dies so smoothly that i don't even realize it shut off till i can't turn the wheels cause the power steering pump isn't running.

there are no engine codes, and runs perfectly fine until these problems happen randomly. the only issues recently fixed are the rotors and a broken axle u-joint. i changed the fuel pump for these issues but it didn't fix it. i'm on a very limited budget and out of ideas. please help

Has the battery went dead or been disconnected for a period of time recently ?

The stalling is probably due to the battery being disconnected then and losing it's idle strategy . To correct this you will need to clean the throttle body . Here is the procedure we have posted here on how to clean . http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....light=throttle
