Yep, a LS helps a lot in snow and on ice. The friction on these surfaces doesn't put enough torque on the diff to break a LS free, so essentially its locked. On gravel or mud, the torque/friction will break it free.

However, lil trick of the LS...don't wanna do it too often but if you're in a jam in the mud, it will help...give it some (just enough to spin the tires and break LS open) throttle then mash hard on brake pedal, give it some gas then mash hard on the brake pedal, and so on. Of course this will only help if you aren't hung up to the extent when you are at idle in drive both rear tires aren't spinning anyway ahahah. Do that quickly back and forth. Keeps the LS locked up every time you release the brake.

My sticker is on the axle, not the diff cover. I'll just describe where I looked... I crawled under the truck, just in front of the right rear tire. Look up (toward the rear of the truck), directly at the axle, mine is right there. It's about 2"x3", white in color, and has a barcode on it. I don't know if Dodge puts them all in the same spot, but I would assume so.
