Default Speaker Sizes

I apologize if this has been posted before, but the search function did not provide any results for the terms I was searching for.

I am wanting to know what the factory speaker sizes are in a 2010 crew cab ram with out the upgraded system. Crutchfield says that the doors are 6x9 speakers, but all their speakers that are 6x9 say that they don't fit. Can anyone tell me what the right size is or if it is 6x9, why they are saying they don't fit?

Thanks for the help

I pulled the door panels off to check this just last weekend because I just ordered a complete system. Both front and back doors are in fact 6x9 with 3.5's in the dash. I measured the depth of the 6x9 locations and it is right at 3" to the back of the inboard door frame, I feel that a speaker with a depth of 3.25" or less should fit just fine. I hope so because what I ordered has a 3" mounting depth, if they don't fit without modifications I will let you know.

Thanks for the reply. Please let me know how yours work out. I hate to go with 6.5's if 6x9's will work.

Default speakers

ok , I replaced all 4 of my door speakers. I have a 2010 2500 crew. I installled 4 ks 690 kicker 6x9 speakers. yes they will fit but you have to take your time. they need 1/4 spacers that you can get from lowes. the speaker holes will not line up in the front , so you have to redrill the door panel so the speaker can be moved up slightly aprox 1/4 inch, then you need to use the1/4 spacers because of the depth issue. a factory head unit will work but they could use an after market to power them. they sound much better.
