Default Cab differences between 2nd and 3rd generations

Hey guys I am an owner of a strong running 97 cummins with a rusting out cab. My question is will a 2002 cab fit on a 97 chassis? Any help would be a huge help! I found a donor truck which is an 02 but would hate to roll the dice on the fit.

Thanks guys!
Joe

Hello and welcome to the site!

I would think it would be close since the 02 3/4's and up had the 2nd gen body. They didn't change till 2003 to the new body style. Or is the 02 a 1500, then I would say no

An 02 2500/3500 cab should fit since it was still the 2nd gen design, so the cab should fit. Take some measurements of the body mounts. In 02, only the 1500 started the 3rd gen trucks.

Love this site everyone is a huge help.... Thank you

Here is my next question... I have a 97 diesel and just purchased a 98 1500 that I want to swap cab... dash is alittle different obviously the 1500 is missing the wait to start light etc. Does anyone know if I just swapped dash clusters if this would work? Also if anyone knows the best process on removing the cabs or if you could direct me to a web site?

Much appreciated guys
Joe

I think you would have to swap out dashes (wiring difference). Had a guy in my Plymouth club that changed his V10 to a diesel and swapped the dashes.
