Default Helper springs?

Hello, I got a load of gravel yesterday and my truck squatted all the way to the ground. It was embarasing. Does anybody have a suggestion for helper spring, I dont want to lift the rear when unloaded, have looked on net and there are all different kinds. I dont think I want to go with air it seems like overkill. Suggestions please! Thanks

I have Hellwig helpers in the rear and like them (they are actually extra leaf springs). I have also heard good things about Roadmaster (which uses a torsion spring concept instead of extra leafs). For on the cheap, you can also go with Timbrens, which are essentially rubber studs that get attached to your frame and rest on the axle under heavy load (they replace the factory bump stops).

All of the suspension help above should not increase the height on the rear. However, helper springs, like Hellwig, could increase your ride height if your factory springs have suffered any fatigue as this is what helpers do - they get (if compressed without load) and help maintian the factory spring settings with a load. The benefit of actually leaf springs as oppossed to Timbrens is they provide more turning conttol and stability since they cover more area under the truck. Timbrens are a one point of contact concept that I think are better served in the front for heavy bumper/winch/snow plow applications.

All above would help in any case.

Good luck.

Just remember , what ever you do to the truck to make it look like it's handling the load well , it's actually taking it's toll on the rest of the truck (tires , brakes , wheel bearings , tranny , differential etc) . Just be careful of how much your actually hauling .

You can also look at getting some air helper bags. They will be there when you need them. When not under load you can release the air dropping it to stock. You have more control over it with the air bags
