Default wondering

i've got an 08 megacab 2500 4x4 with a 5.7 in it. i recently put a K&N cold air intake on it and was thinking that i should put the throttle body spacer on it as well as getting a cat back exhaust and a programer of some sort for it. my question is has anybody out there done all of this to their trucks? if so, what would be the best programer to get for it? and most importantly did the fuel mileage improve enuf to make it worth while? i drive my truck at a constant 60-65mph on the hiway. it's got 3:73 gears and it's an automatic, and i run 35/12.50/17s on it. i'd appreciate any advice anybody may have for me. also, i'm not trying to make a hot rod out of it im just tryin to make a tank of fuel last a little longer if possible.

What's up bigdog? I would just like to say, first thing, if you're looking to get better gas mileage then try getting rid of those 35's! Just kidding buddy!!! I've got a stainless CAI and a Superchips programmer. I've haven't, yet, heard of any significantly awesome gas mileage with one, but it sure would help alot with those big ol' tires. You can do allot of tinkering with a programmer to get just what you want out of your gas. As for the throttle body spacer....... no clue! My suggestion is to visit all of the programmers manufacturers sites and see which one appeals to you better. I think, and this might be just me, that all programmers are essentially the same!

Don't waste your money on a spacer. Your money would be better spent on a free flowing muffler like a Magnaflow.

I have an '07 MegaCab with 3.73's and a HEMI.

When I first got it (used) the mileage was terrible. I tried 87 octane (the truck almost wouldn't run on it) went to 89 and saw a slight improvement in MPG and the truck didn't feel like it was hauling 10,000 lbs behind it, more like 8,000 pounds. I also saw a small incremental improvement in mileage when I went to 91 octane. In the end, around town mileage was a dismal 9 to 10 mpg, highway mileage around 11 to 12.5 mpg. I don't drive slowly and admit to a heavy right foot. Most of my highway mileage was done at 65 - 75 mph in cruise control.

I installed an exhaust, a Predator programmer and an AFE Stage I intake.

My around town mileage has jumped to 10.5 to 11.8 mpg. Highway mileage has jumped to 13.8 to 14.5 mpg.

The differences between the stock tune and the 91 tune are amazing. Here's a link to the real world dyno results before and after installation of the Predator:

I would have to agree in saying the throttle body spacer is a waste of money. Adding an exhaust and tuner will definitely help out with your MPGs. the best thing about all of that is you will get some great power and drive ability. If your looking for a type of tuner go with the Diablo Sport Predator. I have this on my Hemi and I love it. It has lots of paramters that are tunable which give you great control of the power output. You can also receive custom tunes that other people have created themselves.

i have AFE intake, magnaflow cat back and diablo sport chip, with the combo if i keep my foot off the gas there is a MPG improvement. i would not waste money on spacer, it wont do anything but create an annoying whistle

ok, thank you all for your input. looks like i'm not goin to put a spacer in it after what i've been hearing. so looks like i'll go with a programmer and cat back exhaust on it. i'm pretty sure i'll never see 20+ MPG outa the truck, i'd be happy to sqeeze another 1 - 3 MPG out of it if possible. thanks again guys for your input.
