Me, I like the MDS!
Unless you have a loud exhaust, you'll never hear a drone. (24" Mufflex here, no drone)
It's flat here in Houston, can easily stay in 4 mode for most of my work commute.
I've experienced 27.2 and 28.1 MPG on the freeway 'locked' in MDS mode. Will we all get results like that? Of course not, but it does show the potential of the MDS system.
Those of you who don't like MDS should be happy all it takes to disable it is one click of the button on your shifter.

Just think how happy you would be with 410 horsepower.

Awesome....scratch Predator tuner for now. MDS is a good feature, just not all the time...options are good to have. Thanks!

When my dad passed away in '05 he had just gotten a '05 QC 4wd in '04 with the 4.7....I can honestly say I was glad to turn the truck back to the dealership....just highway speed (55-60) it was running on avg 10-12 mpg....

According to dealer..MDS still works in the tow mode but I did find some satisfaction with it when the dealer did a software upgrade on the MDS. It shifts more quickly when I come to a hill and touch the happy pedal. I guess its time for a Superchip...lol..

Been experimenting with disabling the MDS with the manual shifting into 5th and here's what I found. Definitely works and appears converter does still lock up but there is about a 200rpm difference between the lockup in auto and lockup with the gear selector in 5th position (Total converter slippage looks to be around 500rpm which is about what I used to see with my trailblazer). Converter definitely locks in either position but there is 200rpm less slippage in auto position. Almost like the converter doesn't completely lock if gear selector is pulled into the 5th position. Also the gas mileage is almost a push. Not real impressed at this point with the MDS. Mine was showing around 18-20mpg on flat terrain with mds active or disabled. Drives smoother with the MDS disabled too. Just my .02...

Well dont get me started about how great my new 2011 qc HEMI 1500 is. But its so much better now that all i have to do is push the +/- button to kill the MDS. On my last 2 tanks of gas im averaging 16-19 in town with it off. Now thats impressive. That cant be said about my 05 Durango with th 4.7! That gets 10-15 in town.Plus i have almost 100 more h.p! I'll take my HEMI over my 4.7 ANYDAY! MDS is ok on the freeway. But should be an optional button that is next to the tow/haul button on the dash!! Good ridence MDS. You will NOT be missed!

I've been watching my gas mileage real close and even though it runs a couple hundred rpm lower with the mds on it doesn't change enough that I can see it in my averages. It looks like I'm getting better around town too. Definitely not impressed with the mds. Only place I can see a use for it would be on long trips on the highway. I too would like to have a button on the dash to disable it...

Drove around using this tip for a bit today and it indeed does work, no MDS engaging whatsoever.

Thanks!
