Default Curt Front Hitch

Here are some pictures before the install. I'll post pictures during and after install.

I plan on using it for my winch mount.

Very nice! I want one for my truck as well, to put a portable winch mount into!
Nice stuff, can't wait to see the install.

I miss having a front hitch, it comes in real handy for things like pushing a trailer down a driveway or boat ramp & i could get 5 cents a mile more for my work, checking bridge & wire clearance

heheh
i never thought about that, yes it does

actually, we raise those poles 3" higher then the actual over height load that is behind us about an 1/8th mile. If the pole hits an overhead obstruction, we get on the CB radio & warn the truck driver to Stop before proceeding,
The Authorities tend to get upset when a bridge or telephone wires get knocked down by something like this

Very nice. What type of winch are you planning to go with?

I have a Warn 12k lb series for the front and 9k lb series for the rear. Love them. They work great and very reliable under all types of situations (hot, cold, severe angles, etc.). If you have not used winches on vehicles before, keep in mind they draw signifcant amps from your battery and alt - they can draw as much as 400-500 amps under load. Best to keep truck running when using it.

Love to see pics once you have installed your hitch adn mounted your winch on.

I believe the 2011 Rams now have stepped up the battery CCA to 750
600 amps was a bit to light duty

Thanks for all the comments folks

I have ran a winch before when I had my TJ. Eventually what I would like to do is run a second battery where my airbox was. My air intake really freed up some room under the hood. I have a small system in the truck and I find that the voltage drops quite a bit when I turn it up. So to help with the current the winch will draw and the voltage drop from the stereo I think adding a second battery will be the best plan.

I don't have the winch yet but I have been looking at Runva winches. For the price and the amount I will use the winch they makes sense.

A capacitor might help you with your voltage draw for the stereo and not tax the battery as much, especially if you are adding a winch.
