Default Wierd Headlight Issue

I was driving home tonight with my highbeams on. Everything was normal, then out of the blue, they got brighter, a lot brighter for a second or two. I figured I hit a bump or something, and it did it again, twice.

Now, normally I'd say it was bumps in the road, but with the snow on the ground I could actually see the brightness increase, especially on the sides. Any thoughts?

My best guess: You're seeing the voltage spikes caused by the alternator. This is the reason a lot of people have issues with HIDs plugging directly into the stock harness, and why most of us recommend using a relay harness.

Anything to be worried about?

I'd keep an eye on it, but for the most part I wouldn't be too worried. If the flares get more pronounced or more regular, then I'd have the dealership take a look at your power control system.

It's possible that the charging system may be overcharging . I would have it checked out . It could wreak havoc on the rest of the electrical system . I'm not sure if theres a trouble code in the computer that would set for a overcharge .

Mine did th same thing as I was bouncing my way out on a logging road after sledding a few weeks ago. Thought I was seeing things but buddy confirmed lights were changing brightness. Then last week my rear wheel speed sensor piled up and I had allll sorts of lights to look at on the evic!! lol
