There should be a spring on the bottom hinge, that's what you should spray. Matter of fact just spray the whole bottom hinge.

BTW use WD-40 it works well for that purpose. I was told by my dealer to spray the hinges every oil change.

use a good lubricant
do NOT use WD-40, WD stands for Water Displacement, great for use on spark plugs after washing engine off

What does WD-40 contain?
While the ingredients in WD-40 are secret, we can tell you what WD-40 does NOT contain. WD-40 does not contain silicone, kerosene, water, wax, graphite, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), or any known cancer-causing agents

somewhere here at my place, i have the formula, i got it before anyone knew the term MSDS sheet

Hmm, looks like myself AND the head body shop guy at Telegraph Dodge are being second guessed. I guess 6 years as a body man isn't good enough??
Besides that I've always used WD-40 on door hinges and it's ALWAYS worked fine.

sinned is an unknown quantity at this point

The petroleum distillates in WD-40 actually wash whatever proper lubrication that was on the hinge similar to solvent. WD-40 is NOT a lubricant.

The proper lubrication is the same stuff the factory uses when they are built, good old white lithium grease. It doesn't take much.
