Default 2001 Dodge Ram Front End Squeak

I recently purchased a 2001 Dodge Ram 4x2 with the 5.9L 360 V8. So far it's been wonderful but I recently noticed a squeak coming from the front, we did some looking around and noticed that the idler arm is wore out and there is a lot of play, I have a new one ordered but won't be here till Tuesday. I'm not sure if that is the source of the squeak or not. We got under it to try and locate the source of the noise and when your by the steering linkage the squeak is the absolute loudest. When in park and the engine running to turn the wheels it will squeak real bad, if you turn the wheel back and forth enough it will almost stop squeaking (sometimes completely stop). It won't make noise when it's real cold outside, it doesn't make noise when driving. Mostly just squeaks when going over bumps and when steering when going slow or at a stop.

A friend who was looking at it thought it could be the ball joints on the passenger side, they dont have grease fittings and (correct me if I'm wrong) but I looked at them myself and the rubber boot on the joint doesn't cover anything but the "neck" of the joint I guess you could call it. The ball itself is enclosed in the metal housing.

Any thoughts? I'll know Tuesday after we install the new idler arm if that helped any.

I'd have the ball joints checked . Give it a good grease job after the new idler arm is installed . I've heard some noisy sway bar frame mount bushings make some real good noises .

Default Follow up on front end squeak

We found the source of the squeak when we jacked up the truck to check the ball joint, it's the bushing the coil spring sits on, we sprayed it with white grease, and wholla! No squeaking!!

Any chance you cab be more specific with the area you sprayed? I may have the same issue and want to hit the right spot.
