What I did was take about 16" of line and tied it to a stick on top and bottom of it kind of like making a bow. Also use a blow dryer which helped just heat it up a little and it comes off. Believe me using both of these saves the fingers on getting the tape off lol. I say it took about 30 min each side for the spears and I had 2 spears on each side cause i have a QC. The letters take a litte bit longer but it is all worth the look whan itis all done.
Wow..great info here. I just picked up my 2005 Daytona and I hate the discoloration on these things.

My biggest fear is what the paint will look like underneath.??? I have no issue polishing with my Orbital polisher to make it work.

Any before and after pics that I can see to boost my confidence?

Dave

Dave,

At the factory they put them on after the truck is painted and dried, because not all trucks get them. Once you get the tape off the paint is nice and glossy underneath. Take them off, you will not regret it!

I'm 100% going to do it...hate the way it looks. goo gone and fiishing line seem to be the answer. i have all the product and tools to polish afterwards.

Can't wait!

Thumbs up

I'm going to have to get rid of my door guards as well. I hate the discoloration. I guess this is a common problem for these trucks.

Yes, at one time Dodge was replacing these because of the fading issue. Removing them looks so street truck and great. It's an easy thing to do and if the paint is slightly discolored underneath: it'll come back in a few weeks in the sun.

Just waiting for things to warm up a little more here in CT and then I'm taking these off. Once off I will be following it up with a full body detail..cannot wait.
