Default 98 Ram 1500 v8 5.2l 148,000km. No power. Manual.

So the truck has no power, if I'm driving at 100 km/hr in 5th gear and floor the gas pedal, the truck will slowly acclerate, does it in any gear no matter the speed. I can hear some sort of noise that sounds kinda like a loose chain. Any ideas?

The noise your hearing could be detonation (pinging) . It could be a bunch of different things wrong with it . Low fuel pressure , clogged convertor , timing chain etc... I see this is your first post . Don't forget to stop by the newbie section and introduce yourself .

You need to provide more information, like when you did a tune up, timing chain, etc. The more information we have, the better chance someone might chime in on what the culprit is.

when someone sais pedal to the floor and no accelleration i allways see a clogged catalyc converter so the easiest fastest thing to do is let the truck run outside at night, run it id say for atleast 15 minutes and if the catalyc converter glows red its bad or if you dont wanna wait that long til night get under their with a BIG hammer and bang on it a few times to break up all the carbon clogging it.

Checked the CAT and never noticed it glowing or anything. It lacks pwer in any gear, and is worse once it's warmed up. The plugs and wires have been changed in the last two months. I tried to caputre the sound with my friends Iphone. You can hear it best at 11 secs. http://uploading.com/files/4858aad2/Memo.m4a/

Take a rubber hammer and hit the converter housing. Any noise?
