We had the pcm update done but no change. I did find two vacuum hoses not connected though. One is a small diameter green hose with a black plastic/rubber connection on the end just behind the distributer towards the driver side; no clue where it goes. The other is coming off of the vacuum shift motor on the passenger side front axle. I think it connects to a port on the passenger side bulkhead but I can't get it to connect. There is a small white plastic piece inserted in the hose. Thanks again.

Dave.

Are you sure it's ping? Sounds like it could be an exhaust leak.

maybe 93 octane is causing the ping? try just 87 octane.
my machine shop teacher said his durango would spark knock with 93 octane.

Really? 93 octane cause knocks??? I have never heard that before. I run mine on 85 octane always have, why would it start pinging now?

Are we talking about pre-ignition "ping"? If so try 89 octane. My 98 1500 pings under load (hill climbing or hard acceleration) when I run it on anything other then 89octane.

You said new engine. What about the intake manifold? Did you just swap or did the new engine already have a new manifold?
