i have a 98 1500 with the 5.2 and iv been lookin into gettin a shift kit, any ideas or opinions on whats a good product

get the tranny rebuilt when you do it. if not, youll blow every seal in that tranny. your local tranny shop should know of a good one to put in it.

Sounds Like You've hadf a bad experience with this... I will be sure to get it rebuilt when I put the shift kit in it. Thanks for the info.

not bad experience, but if you put a shift kit on it, all that extra pressure inside a tranny with however many miles on it will be a whole lot more than its use to and was built for. therefor, seals=history.

I've heard that as well, that it's a good idea to get the transmission rebuilt when installing a shift kit. I don't know about Ram trannys but with older Chevys and stuff it's almost the same price to buy a beefed up aftermarket tranny with a shift kit already installed as to getting one rebuilt and paying for the shift kit to be installed.
