I checked mine today and I don't have any metal rubbing against rubber as you seem to have when it is folded up all the way. It looks like you are missing the seal that goes along the very back. This seal lays on top of the tailgate when everything is closed. I'll check it again in the morning and post pictures.

Went back out this morning and folded the cover all the way up and still don't see any place that metal rubs rubber. Sorry for the quality, early morning dew still out.

Here's what mine looks like folded and I included pics of the back seal piece that it looks like you may be missing, hope this helps.

I've had a look at mine and I cannot see any wear. I can see that the metal corners from the folded up section do not touch the rubber seal on the edge of mine. Yours looks like the metal is resting on the rubber.

More than the rubber protection that touches the rear window, there should be rubber cushions on the bottom/head of the folded up section that should come in contact with the top of the G2 and support the folded up sections above the rubber part where you are seeing wear. They are on the underside of the elbow of the second/third section when folded up.

I'm thinking they did not include those on yours. If not, they owe you a new one.

Thanks for the pictures M n M. The second one from the right is what was looking for as a comparison.
Deepblue, I will check in the morning to see if there are infact rubber cushions on the bottom of the second/third section. I am thinking there are not, it seems to me after two sections are folded up, they are resting on the rubber seals on the sides of the third section, not on any rubber bumpers. Would you happen to have any pictures of the rubber bumpers?

I have the same problem with mine and really didn't think much about it until I sw this thread. There are sharp metal corners and edges resting directly on the rubber seal when the cover is folded open. I have only folded it 4 times and once was to inspect the cover after reading this thread. Also, one of my support arms either sheared of the mounting screws or the screws are very short and just came out. This happened with the cover closed and with no load on the support arm. Have to call BAKFlip today and see what's up.

ETA: I don't haver any rubber cushions on my cover except for the ones protecting the rear window.

Thanks deepblue, I don't have those rubber cushions. Al E. Gator, let me know how you make out. I sent two emails with no reply.

Still haven't called BAKFlip. I've been too busy with other stuff.

They said the cause of the damage is due to the rubber cushions missing. They won't replace the cover. They offered to send the cushions, then the rubber seals. I am not too crazy about trying to replace the rubber seals myself.
