Nice writeup.

Just a couple of comments:

1. The tow mirrors have the integrated convex mirrors. Unless you order and spec a 1/2T (my MegaCab 1500 came with them), the standard mirror is the routine build sheet item.

2. Electrical folding mirrors would be nice but you do need a detent so the mirror won't start flapping up against the body. That's why only the glass pans.

3. Low RPM power depends a lot on what gear set you have. Oh, and if you are getting on a freeway, shift out of OD until you hit your running speed on the freeway.

4. Get a programmer!

Thanks Maddog, good info. In three months of shopping it was clear no one (dealer) specs them with tow mirrors at this trim level unfortunately. But convex should be standard on any of them IMHO. Just a corner would have been good like on my 3500. I have the highest (numerically) gears you can get. I would have spec'd 4:88's or 5:13's if they had let me. And I have it in manual shift nearly every time I drive. 1-2 gear shift still sucks. But despite those issues, it's still the best 1500 out there right now. A gear swap, programmer to hopefully help the tranny and some stick-on convex and I'll be set.

I just read it again for ya! I appreciate the time you took on this! I did like the power folding mirrors on the new super duty pickups...great for a big truck! And they had two separate mirrors, one convex and one normal!

No I haven't and probably won't due to warranty concerns. My truck is my daily transport and keeping the warranty in tact is important. I over modded my car and eliminated the warranty. Turned out to be a mistake in retrospect.

See? That's all I was saying about the mirrors and I agree completely. A simple thing like that can add a lot of value to the truck and I can't believe it is any significant difference in production costs for Chrysler. (maybe the power portion could add a small amount, but a convex mirror on a truck this size should be standard).

I agree with everything except the badging and the tailgate. I personally like the big RAM head on the back, reminds others who's up front

Also the tailgate is a HUGE improvement from the previous gen RAMS. My 04 tailgate felt like it had 2 cement bricks inside, it dropped like a rock and required muscle to close it with one hand....

Great write up..I laughed out loud about the sun visors...my 08 had nice soft ones that matched the headliner....these are just big and plastic...don't know what they were thinking on that one.....

The tailgate on my 11 feels like butter compared to the 08...The 08's was like a slap of cement!!
