I'm with ya there, Roadie. Interesting that they have to pay "laid off" workers under their UAW contracts. Gee...what a job to have...getting paid not to work.

The UAW has been a major contributor but the automaker's management teams were on the other side of the table when those contracts were negotiated.

Time for an overhaul...no bandaid is gonna fix the problem. Level the mountain and build from the ground up with no fixation or significant influence of what was...they need to look forward and not back.

In the meantime, for those of us that can afford it, it's a great time to buy a car or truck.

Agreed ...Sadly the unions refuse to make the concessions required to again become competitive.. I say do what Ronnie Regan did and call their bluff ...( air controllers )Go back to work or be replaced ..

I see it coming to that...the some odd billion granted them recently came with strings attached. I also heard some CNN reporting that some of that committee was pretty vocal about this isn't a one way deal..the unions get to pitch in to make it work, too.

The unions may not have a choice. Offer up real concessions or face huge layoffs and other strategies developed to break the union hold on the jobs.

Interesting times, my friend, interesting times.
