Default Oil and Filter ????

Ok I am sure there is a thread on here but I am going to be honest, I am just too lazy to hit the search button lol...

Anywho what do you guys recommend on type of oil and what brand of filter to use??

I was thinking getting a Mopar filter but just wanted to get your guys opinions on it!

Randy has posted some good choices . Hastings is another quality oil filter . I read some reviews on them several years ago about their performance . I also run Amsoil in all my vehicles . 100% pure synthetic .

I use Mobile with puroilator Pure One filter. It seems to have the most filter area for the price.

I think you will hear mobile 1 and amsoil most from members here. Filter is sometimes a more personal choice. Avoid fram as they use cardboard retaining caps that can give up with extended use (as you might have when useing full synthetic oil).

Are you really going to see a difference between synthetic and non?? Will it help with the oil sludge? I have never run full synthetic even in my race car.

Ok I WONT be using a mopar filter, thats so funny to read that website.

When I had my eclipse I ONLY ran a mitsubishi filter because they did something special to avoid lifter tick. I did a oil change once in my eclipse and I didn't have a mitsu filter and that thing ticked like HELL. I changed the oil again and put a mitsu filter on it and it was GONE!

Well I will probably use a purolator, or maybe baldwin b/c they are made like 30 miles from where I live...

I dunno, but Oil I have no clue

I have a 2010 with a 4.7 and the owners manual is very specific on using 5w-20 oil. I do 4-5 hour trips towing an enclosed trailer and I was curious if maybe 5-30 would be a better choice? After an 8 hr round trip of towing my "change oil" warning came on with about 1500 miles on the oil that was in it. Anyone know what triggers this warning? Is it just mileage or is it doing diagnostics on the oil?

Now that Canadian Tire has started bringing in the Wix filters, I know what I'll be getting. It was always such a pain trying to get a Wix up here, but not so much now.

macop, to my knowledge, the oil light is duty based, so, unless you didn't reset the oilchange light at your last change, then it's recommending a change. If you're running a fully synthetic, then you should be able to put it off for longer as the CEL is guaged for the thermal brakedown of dino oil, not synthetic which brakes down much slower at temperature.

using 5w-30 oil instead of 5w-20 means u would be using a thicker oil which is probly ok in the hottest months but if it gets a little colder that thicker oil doesnt travel thru the smaller oil ports as easily.ur truck is under warranty so that might be a big mistake if something where to happen and they thought you warnt using right grades at right intervalls.
