Default Tonno Pro and BedRug

Got my BedRug yesterday and the Tonno Pro arrived today, so I did a little "installing" in the garage this afternoon.

Both products are pretty darn impressive in terms of fit, finish, and apparent durability.

Since it is only 28 degrees here in balmy MN today, I did not tape/velcro down the BedRug, but did zip it up and set it in there. I can tell already I am going to love this thing. Wish I had known about the BedRug when I had my last Ram...what a great product concept (time/use will tell if it truly kicks a$$).

The Tonno Pro was as easy to install as advertised. They send along two long strips of tailgate seal tape, so I increased the install time by using one of the strips behind the rear window to ensure I had a tight seal (could see light coming through before I used the seal). I then used the other piece on the tailgate...all along the bottom and then up the sides from the bottom to the rubber stops. For all intents and purposes, the bed is now watertight. Again, no tests/use yet, but the Tonno Pro seems like a great cover! Glad I went this route (only $250 shipped) instead of a $400 Access cover.

One negative I will point out about the Tonno Pro is the clamps...both front and back. They seem to be on the chinsy side and could be beefier in my opinion. On the Dodges, too, the plastic on top of the bed rails hangs lower than edge of the bed metal, so the small edge on the Tonno clips is grabbing more plastic than metal. Again, time will tell if I experience any issues with this or if it work fine.

So, in a matter of 30 minutes (more time will be added once the BedRug is made "permanent") and $600, I went from having a bed that was basically useless to one large, sexy trunk. The Tonno really dresses up the whole ride, too.

I will post pics when I get some time.

For those of you that have a bedrug, how well does it clean up? I do a lot of hunting and am wondering on if blood and dirt will just wash out? Also I have an access cover and it seems like the inside of my box is like a vacuum for the dust. Does the bedrug collect a lot of dust? Sorry for all the questions but I am looking pretty hard at getting one of these.

Hey ND-

I cannot speak to the dust, but it would seem since the bed is basically watertight, it should be dust-tight too? I know that there are openings in the bed just under the rails, so dust may still get in there.

So far as blood, since the BedRug is made of a non-porous material, blood should wash out just as easily as any other liquid as advertised...gasoline, oil, etc.

Will be interesting to hear from BedRug owners that have had one for a few years and can give experienced feedback.
