Default inverter location

just got my new ram 3500.. the inverter is only rated at 150 watts. i want to put in a bigger one but keep the same outlet on the dash. does anyone know where the inverter is actually located so i can swap it out with a larger rated one?

please don't suggest just using a cigarette lighter one, or putting it under the seat or anything like that, that's just common sense. i want to replace it, not add an additional one

Since you don't want one under the seat, I guess you won't be happy to hear that's where your factory unit is located.

REMOVAL

1.Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2.Release the seat cushion j-channel (1) from the seat frame to gain access to the power inverter module (2).

3.Lift up on the seat cushion and remove the four power inverter mounting bracket retainers.
4.Disconnect the power inverter electrical connector and remove the power inverter assembly from the vehicle.

5.Remove the four screws holding the power inverter to the mounting bracket.
6.Remove the power inverter.

That's ok. I just didn't want to add an extra one. Which seat is it under? I'm hoping it looks like a common one that I could just swap out easily. But probably not knowing my luck. Hahaha

Service info doesn't specify which seat and I haven't had to mess with one yet.

I just looked under both front seats of my '10 CC. It looks to me as though it's mounted under the passenger seat. It looks very similar to the diagram that Randy posted, and if you feel along the top (sort of through the bracket) you can feel what feels like heat sink fins.

It doesn't look that hard to remove, though I don't think an after market inverted will fit in the same location, as they tend to be a bit larger.

If you're any good at electrical you might be able to somehow tap into the factory plug, and mount the new after market inverted somewhere else (there appears to be enough room under the driver's seat)

good luck

Exco

that's my next step is tracing wires and figuring out which ones i need to make heavier since the original wires look like they are only 14g or so does anyone have a wiring diagram?
