Default No Internal Power & Setting the Predator back to factory tune?

Fortunately this hasn't happened to me but it's a question i've wondered about for a while now and was bored so I figured i'd ask it. It's more out of paranoia then anything else but I have had vehicles that had electrical problems or alternator issues, etc, to where I not only couldn't start up but had little or no internal power either. Obviously a battery issue wouldn't count as a simple jump or battery booster would allow you to use your predator and reset the factory tune before having the vehicle serviced at the dealer.

So it just got me wondering if there were any way should our Rams have an issue where they lose internal power for whatever reason, i'm assuming we'd just be SOL in getting the factory tune reinstalled, right? Or would there be any other way to connect the predator to the OBD-II Port in a situation like this and get the factory tune reinstalled?

If the PCM doesn't power up as it should, I'd say you're SOL.

Agree with that ^^^^! The PCM must power up and the Predator is not internally powered and gets its power from the truck interface.

thanks Magic Mike and Randy "The Post Ripper"...as usual you come through with prompt answers. That's pretty much what I figured but wouldn't of known if there were some work around unless I asked. I know the situation isn't likely, but it's far from improbable. With the fact that there's a predator out there for countless vehicles i'm sure this has actually happened to a number of people just by sheer numbers. Of course, there would have to be a series of negative events starting with that specific issue and followed by the dealer actually checking and seeing a tune other then stock is present, and then even more, showing how that would void the warranty for whatever the cause of the PCM issue was. So a series of events but one that I guess aren't impossible.

Randy, have you ever found a predator install on any vehicle you've ever worked on?

I can't say I have but I figure this is for of two reasons. First, I just don't look for them. Second, we don't see many tuners on gas burners but we do on diesels.
