My guess is it downloads your VIN to the hand held and won't tune a vehicle unless it reads that VIN. that is correct- with the Diablosport tuners (Predator and Trinity), the first thing they do is download a copy of your factory tune, which includes the VIN, so that you can restore the vehicle to stock later.
I'm not exactly sure how superchips does it, but I'm pretty sure they lock down their programmers to one vehicle at a time too.For the most part, if you want to tune more than one vehicle at a time, you have to get some professional tuning software (things on the level of Diablosport's CMR software), which will definitely cost more than a couple of Predators.
