I would stand up without pay, but only if I had to. Thats what this nation was founded on.

And yes, ordering parts for our broken trucks in the motor pool would be a No-Go.

I agree with you on that. The only ones really that I've heard say anything about not showing up if they don't get paid is the POS E-5s and E-4s and below. I didn't join cause of the pay. If I cared about that so much I would of came in as an Officer instead of Enlisted.

This is a no brainer. I don't need an order from anyone to tell me to show up without pay. I'll do it regardless. My bills might not get paid but so what? I'm still going to do what I've been doing.

But I can see a lot of requests for a second/part time job from the Soldiers just so they can support their families.

Alright so an update I received on this a little bit ago is that yes military is getting paid on the first I actually checked the bank account earlier and the deposit has already been made its just waiting to clear(lets hope that happens). However, the 15th and on is still up in the air. basically congress has until the 8th to pass a budget or a government shutdown could happen. This was word actually passed from my higher command vice one of the military times magazines.

I still don't believe it will happen however the information is in my case coming from a much more reliable source than any of the military times magazines, or a news article.

there was a shut down in 96 and we weren't affected I got my pay then...now on the other hand I have friends in the FBI and other agencies and they were not paid for two weeks and said it took almost a month to get their back pay. I dont think we will be affected by this one but we will see..

well, it's back on again starting the 8th. oh what fun. luckily, i was slow to pay some bills off and have money in the account that can cover the bills for that time frame. so not too worried about it. especially, if they give us back pay.

The only reason as to why we're even in this predicament, is because congress couldn't do their jobs back in September to come up with a budget for fiscal yr 11. So the people who are actually doing their jobs and have enough on their minds already ie: staying alive while fighting....has even more on there plate to worry about back home now, while congress is still getting their 174k a year; of course they're in no rush to come to a decision, they're not losing out on anything. The tax payers are going to pay even more for the Gov. shutdown then it would be to just keep them running, these people need to be held accountable for their jobs as I am at mine, I'm sure if I didn't do what I was told, I would end up at the green table with half months pay times 2.... All this should've been hashed out 8 Months ago. I guess we'll see if they can pull it together in the last 25hrs before shutdown, but.....with our "awesome" president Obama vowing to veto the new bill(even if it is an extension) I doubt I'll be getting paid on the 30th.

A bill that would guarantee the continued pay for those of us in the military fighting three wars was called a "distraction" WTF?! Any guesses who said it? I'll give you one
