I didn't downgrade. The tires I went back with are P285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. The load rating is 117. My original post was about the max PSI on the tire being the same as the suggestion on the door placard, and my concern about running them at max all the time. As stated in my previous post, I checked out the load ratings before I bought them in regards to reading opinions about P rated tires not belonging on a truck etc. Turns out that these have higher load ratings then what would have came stock and I have never had trouble with the 265s. My blackberry doesn't have flash so I can't post the link right now but Nittos site has all the specs of the tire.

The door placard would only give you information for the tire listed on the placard. since you are upsizing to P285/70R17, the door placard no longer applies and neither does the tire supplement guide. So you can run the MAX pressure listed on the sidewalls and be able to get the load carrying capacity listed on the sidewall.
Otherwise, here you go, hope this helps:
35 psi - 2833 lbs
32 - 2745
29 - 2623
26 - 2480

'P' rated tires are fine on pickup trucks; LT are more for 3/4 ton.
