Default sticking in second

hi i have a 01 ram 5.2 4x4 92000 miles. once a day it sticks in second it revs to 3000rpm and if i punch it it shifts hard and i hear a thump as it hits third. or i shift to nuetral and back to drive and it shifts to third without the thump. other than once a day it drives and shifts fine .think its something electrical no check engine codes and tranny was flushed and filled recently at the dealership. keep hearing govenor pressure sensor and solenoid gonna replace them this weekend and change the filter as well. anyone have similar issues? give me a shout ! will post back how it goes cross your fingers!

You can still have TCM codes stored without MIL illumination. I'd get it scanned before I dumped money into solenoids.

i have a craftsman scanner that pulls tranny codes it was like two hundred bucks i used is that sufficient or is that a generic way to go about it. not sure if it is going to show something that a more exspensive scanner would show at a dealership or tranny shop. thanks for your reply!

If it pulls manufacturer specific codes, you're good to go but if not, you may want to get someone with a tool that can do it to make sure.
