It is possible that if an oiled filter has too much oil and get on the MAF it could reduce mileage. That being said, it will also make your truck run like crap.

I don't think the CAI *should* affect your mileage, at least not down. The ECU should adjust for this and hold the same A/F mixture as you are using the same MAF with the same mapping as charlieb indicated above. You should NOT need a tune. A tune will help maximize the potential.

More than likely you are just noticing it more due to the prices?

No MAF sensor in our trucks. MAP, yes, MAF, no, Totally different systems with different reactions to increased volumetric efficiency.
CAI's used on a speed density FI system are most likely to see minimal, if any, results. (Other than the noise and underhood appearance)

Ha! Shows what I know! I never bothered to look before I "opened my mouth". Why are all these folks adding CAI then? We should encourage them not to?

ther adding cia for more volume of cooler air .means more air to burn means more hp.not much more hp unless you also add free flowing exhaust.

No tuner, its been on for about 3 weeks now, I checked all the connections its all secure and good. Its prolly just my driving habits and the fact that I dont get as much fuel as I used to when I visit the pump. I need to get a predator and tune it if it is the issue with the computer. Thanks for the help!

There's alot of information on the Charger and Challenger forums on CAIs and the Hemi, from personal expierence maybe a little better throtle response and I love to hear it scream. LOL
With my 05 Dakota 4.7 running a K&N kit it felt like I lost a lttle on the low end when taking off normally from a light but on the highway I seemed to have a little more for passing. I think I picked up a couple of hp on the high end by sacrificing a couple on the low.
The difference in MAF and MAP limits what we get out of a CAI.
JMHO, I've read plenty of debates on if it's worth it or one brand is supeiror to another. They look good and sound good but I'm skeptical over the claimed performance gains.
