2700 Miles, now averaging 16 per combined rural/city. Its up from about 14 from brand new. Keeps getting better over time and I'm not too gentle on pedal.

The gear ratio has a big impact on mileage. My truck has MPG friendly 3.22 gears and I have averaged between 16.5-18.5 since my first oil change (Mobil 1 syn) at 500 miles. I am completely stock right now. Been thinking about switching to 3.92 gears for a little more out of the hole but gas is almost $4 a gallon here and I am enjoying the decent mileage. I use the hell out of my cruise control which really helps control the lead foot problem the hemi's seem to produce.

In my 05 hemi I had 3.92 gears, intake, exhaust, supechips and average 14 mpg. Up from 12 when the truck was brand new.

I have about 9400 miles on my 2010 Ram. What I have found is just what you said, if I set the cruise it gets about 20 miles to the gallon. I have found that if I dont set the cruise and drive the truck where I control the gas pedal I can get 22 and some times 23 on a good day. Now that is on the highway and not going much above 70. Around town I have had to slow it way down to get 17 to 18 but have been able to get it . I have only replaced the muffler and taken the recinators off so not much of any upgrades as of yet. Not sure this helps but I sure hope so. Oh yeah one of your questions was if I saw it improve as I put on more miles. Yes I would say for me that is a true statement. Good LucK

At 5,000 miles, its pretty much done all the major break-in you`ll ever see. Check your tire pressure too,
tire pressure makes a huge difference, type of tire will make a big difference too.
Check the air filter often too, critters like to make nice homes in there.
Ignition timing isnt the primary issue. The primary issue is the proper AFR and the truck does have 02 sensors and the PCM will readjust to avoid the vehicle running to rich on G100.

In the old days cars knocked on E10 primarily because they were running to lean. Reducing ignition timing would help "bandaid" the problem but ideally the mixture would have been richened.

E10 or E15 will cost roughly 1 mpg.

Just took my first highway trip put on about 500 miles round trip and i was getting about 17.5 mpg and my truck only has about 2000 km on it, so I was very happy so far, with the milage it got.

You bought the wrong type of vehicle, and the wrong motor on top of that, if you sweat 4-5 MPG difference. We all want 400 + fp of torque AND 25 MPG highway, but unless you go Diesel, it ain't happening. I average 13 MPG, hand calc. And I get, at best, 18 Highway with it under 70 mph. My gears are 3:92 and I wish they were 4:10's or higher (numerically). I have a lot of tire and a leveled truck so my gears hurt my mpg since my engine lugs @ 65 in OD. Lower RPM, due to gearing, on the highway eventually has diminishing returns, and add to that the fact that lower (numerically) gears kill city driving mileage. Hence my wish for higher gear numbers. 4:56's would be perfect, plus it would only add to my towing ease and mileage.

I just took a trip to Vegas and was able to get 18.2 miles per gallon. Granted i was dealing with a huge amount of morons on the road that couldn't drive if there lives depended on it, and in between stepping on the little pedal and leaving asphalt in their grills, I am very impressed with the MPG i got. The truck ran strong and had no problems overtaking the chumps as needed!! BTW first Dodge and never going back! Only issue i had was a whistling noise from the drivers side doors at around 80-85 plus mph. Don't mean to hack this page, but has anyone else had this issue?

I have the whistiling issue too. I notice it at around 75mph in gusty winds. I told the dealership about it on my first oil change so they ordered me a new door seal. I haven't brought it in yet to get fixed.
