Default Engine misfiring?

Well, it happened to me today.

I have had my truck for a month and a half and it has been perfect, then out of the blue today when I was pulling into a parking lot the front end starts shaking.
Like a very strong vibration, with the engine barely above idle.
I ran into the store sick about it and hoped when I came out it would be gone.

No such luck, got about 1/4 mile before the check engine light started to flash.

Fortunately I was only about 2 miles from the dealer.

I took it there and they have it now.

I'm looking for answers, has anyone heard of this before?
My guess is it is an MDS related issue.

When driving about 20mph and trying to accelerate slightly nothing happens, have to step down on throttle kinda far to get the engine to respond and then it speeds up proplerly.

The thing that scares me is it sounds ugly, like its not hitting all cylinders and it shakes pretty severe while sitting still idling.

Oh well, it's only money right

nope, I was down to about a qtr tank.

The check engine light flashing makes me think its a bit more serious than bad gas.

Although, I am getting bad gas from this ordeal.

Maybe a bad fuel pump?

Guess I will hear something this morning from the dealer.

Sounds exactly like what my truck was doing when the rocker arm went.

You hit the nail on the head.

They told me the rocker arm "came off"
This caused cylinder 7 to stop firing.

Is this something that can cause damage to other parts of the engine or will is basically be good as new once the rocker arm is replaced?

well, after a bit of research it appears this is a well known issue with 4.7L engines.

I have the 5.7 Hemi, not as much history with this issue.

Can anyone explain how a rocker arm could pop off on a brand new truck with 2500 miles?

I hope this is a one time deal...

Sorry to hear about your truck, hope they get it fixed and back on the road quickly.

Defective parts, which is becoming more and more common as design factors of safety are lowered to reduce material costs. Lower costs = higher profit margins. The auto corporations are run by accountants, not engineers, so you will not always be getting the best product for your money.
