Default Question on Dash Cap

For those of you that went the dash cap route - what did you do to the existing dash to keep it from falling apart into pieces behind the dash and causing issues or rattling/noise?

Mine has a few cracks but hasn't lost any chunks yet, and i am trying to decide how I want to approach it.

Thanks

are you using a soft cover or the hard cap? i got the soft cover on mine and dont have any rattling problems. if you go with the hard cover thats guarenteed not to crack, i would just put some tape on the dash where its cracked or you can loosten the screws a little bit to prevent any further cracking.

Any recommendations on tape - that won't loose its adherence in the temp extremes hot and cold?

packaging tape should work good. i would think anyways. better that duct tape that gets all gooey. might also want to look into gorilla tape. i would loosten the screws though.

I tried using Duct tape but it wouldn't stick to the dash.

for now i just repaired with epoxy. I drilled a small hole at the end of each crack to hopefully stop them from continuing. I think I will go with the molded carpeted cover, so I can easily take it off to assess the dash and do additional fixes.

I tried 5 min epoxy on the first crack - but I don't have a lot of confidence in it holding. I did some of the others with jb weld and it seems very strong and at least it is grey even though not the same shade.

I really don't think tape will last for long.
