Default 3500 Mega Cab Payload Capacity & Tire Rating

Hey Everyone,

This is my first time posting here, because I just traded my 04 F350 for a Dodge 3500 Mega Cab DRW. Hopefully you guys can help me answer some questions.

First some background, I have a Lance 845 Truck Camper which weighs 2700 lbs. and a Quest pontoon that weighs about 1,800 lbs. with a tongue weight of about 275 lbs.

I am concerned because I just noticed that the tire load sticker on the inside of the door says that the weight of the passengers and cargo should not exceed 2,500 lbs. I have Ameritrac tires with the load range E and it is a DRW tire. The reason I am confused is my friends F350 DRW 8' bed has the same sticker but is says not to exceed 4880 lbs. Can any one explain the huge difference between the Ford and the Dodge? Should I be concerned with exceeding the number by less that 500 lbs.?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Dodge really dropped the ball with the mega cab dually. An SRW crew cab with a short bed has a 3000 pound payload and the mega DRW is 2590.
A crew cab DRW has a 4680lb payload and a reg cab DRW is 5000lbs
I think its because of the length of the cab and how the weight sits with respect to the rear axle
