Default Thinking of buying a Ram (first truck) but would like some opinions!

OK.. lol I feel strange being on a Dodge site.. (Usually I'm a ford guy but I'm fairly neutral and non biased)

I have always liked the Dodge Rams for their size on the inside. My friend used to own a 96 V6 standard and it's the truck that got me hooked on Rams

Now I'm getting rid of my fourwheeler so I can buy a cheap car/truck so I can start work soon and I'll need a new ride.. (My 2001 Taurus SES is limping to it's grave as we speak)

Well I posted my fourwheeler up for sale and a guy not too far from me offered me his 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 360 Magnum.. It has 120k miles, in 04 or 05 the whole rear end was replaced, new starter, new battery, new brakes brake lines calibers and rotors,10" sony sub rockferd fosgate amp, its an automatic with over drive, tanoe cover on the bed. Paint is flaking, power windows and locks,.. and I think that's all the info I have so far... he says it burns no oil.. I also have pics .. paint is flaking but to me it isn't that bad.. I would like to make it the original paint if I got it because I love the color it is.

He wants my fourwheeler + $1000 (about $2600-2800) total

I am not an expert, but with a truck that old, I would look for a good service record!

If you do end up getting the truck, i would replace the rear glass with a solid piece. Makes those trucks to easy to break into.

hey its your truck, but when it comes to trusting people i don't know, no matter how small of a town i live in, i tend to regret my decisions.

it sounds like a decent deal to me. You defiantly want to make sure you get it checked out though when i bought my first Dodge (97 dakota) it had higher millage and the Tranny slipped like no other, trust me that hurts the resale value lol. If its in good shape and nothing big like that was wrong with it i would do it because you probably wont find another truck like that you could get for 1000 + your 4 wheeler and you defiantly need to ditch that FORD!
