Default 2011 Ram Backup Camera

I just got my 2011 Ram Laramie with the backup camera. One thing I noticed is that it doesnt show any guide lines. My wifes 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee shows 2 black lines that show the tire path and one red line that shows the hitch path. Anyone else have this issue?

Default Camera

The camera on my 2011 doesn't have that either but i think I can live with it. Sucks having to wipe it off all the time so you can see.

That's interesting, my Ram is the first one I've ever had with the camera so I simply thought all they did was give a nice big picture of the bumper and area you're backing into.

I've never heard of guide lines before. That's a pretty cool idea.

Mine seems to stay pretty clean but we don't have the really messy roads like a lot of places in the winter.

Grid lines are for the Ford owners. Need them on that massive 1.8" display.
Once you graduate to a Dodge, you use the camera (with 7" display) AND the mirrors.

I've seen those guidelines on other vehicles and thought they were pretty cool. But once you know your vehicle, they are not necessary any more, as you really know where it will go while backing up and stuff.

On some European cars they even display the distance in the grid, such as 1 meter, 2 meters, and so on (like on some Volkswagen, if I remember right). Again, this is wonderful when the car is new, useless once you know your car.

So, I do not miss it on my 2010 Ram! I wouldn't add them, should they become available later as an "upgrade".

My 2 cents

Cherokees, Journeys, and Vans have the guideline in the new system.

sorry to say but the trucks do not.

Dare I say it's because men drive trucks and..... well... the women need a bit more... assistance?? I kid I kid...

Not sure why they changed it though between the models.
