Default Black fender flares...

I think most fender flares come with a paintable flat black color. Being I have a black pearl coat Ram, does anyone have photos of these flares on their black truck unpainted in relationship to the pearl coat. I'm wondering if I need to get them painted before I buy a set. The flat color would match the mirrors and bed cap on the truck. Any thoughts? I think I can get the black pearl from the dealer.

i'm sure you will get many opinions on this, but would leave them flat black as it would balance out the cap and mirrors. are you saying you have a flat black truck cap? if so can you post pics.

The cap around the bed is the same material (look) as the mirror material. Same as whats on the top tailgate ridge. I guess it's more of a "matte black".

sorry, around here a truck cap is fiberglass shell that covers the bed. i guess we were talking about two different things. lol after seeing your pic, i am sure the fender flares will look great unpainted and left flat black.

After attaching the photo, I kind of thought that's what you meant. My bad, but thanks for the info, I think I agree. The flares won't stand out that much left unpainted.

I say get them painted... You can't buy the paint at the dealer. (in any quantity larger than a touchup stick) Pay someone to do it right for you.

I looked at the flares from Dodge
the parts guy & i took them out of the packaging & took them out to my Ram
we both thought the same thing, they belonged in the packing box, not on a MY vehicle

Yours i think need to be painted, compare prices from a paint shop & the dealership body shop prices, either can get the paint, the LABOR cost is what you need to get

I went with a set of Bushwackers & for my ORANGE truck, they look good without painting & they came with both the front section for painted & CHROME bumbers ( 2 different lengths ) look at the 2nd image, i taped the short piece to show the difference in length

they look great gtyankee, i noticed you have mud flaps on the rear wheels, had you wanted to, could you put mud flaps on the front with the flares or do the flares keep the side of your truck clean with out them. tks steve

I was wondering that as well, if the flares protect the back lower quarter panels.

The mud flaps do help somewhat to keep the truck clean. The biggest improvement I noticed was a lot less snow/slush build up on the side step's and the rear bumper where it wraps around the rear quarter. Check out this thread: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=61518&page=3
