Hey Gang,

It's been awhile. I was flat on my back with a terrible cold for over a week. I just got enough ambition to go crawl under the old beast yesterday and what do you think I found under there?

Every damned tranny pan bolt was about finger tight! Those crooks in CT NEVER looked inside the tranny at all. Well the dripping stopped as I tightend all the bolts up. I wiped it all down and got it nice and dry and stuck some fresh cardboard under the pan. had a look this afternoon and not a drop coming out now so one thing solved.

I'll be taking it to my mechanic the first of May for the Plenum gasket (I spotted oil droplets, looking through the TB) and a couple C notes should have me back in the saddle again. I think I'll spring for an Oil change and full lube while he has it too. Maybe a tranny flush and servicing would be a good idea.

Now then. If I still have shifting problems, ie; occaisionally won't go into 1st gear - shut down - restart - usually good to go then. Should I look into a sensor, module, something along those lines for the tranny before I dig into the pump?

I also am looking to purchase a manual as I am possibly going to be digging into a problem with my 5 speed manual trans loosing reverse completely and sticking in 5th gear if left in that gear when coasting to a stop. I found this manual on ebay put out by Bishko Auto Literature ( item # 270592017938 )but have not yet heard a reply back as to if the manual contains transmission rebuild information. Am a Mazda mechanic by trade and have tackled the intake gasket leak and exploded water pump without a book but will definitely get one for a transmission rebuild. I think this is the same company I bought manual from for my 75 PowerWagon years ago but no sure. Perhaps another member has one of these manuals and could input how good the information is.
